The Ministry of Recreation


The Ministry of Recreation serves as a support system to all church ministries and their respective ministries. Its major premise and function is to provide the believer with an opportunity to participate in various activities in the spirit of Christian fellowship. In addition, it seeks to instill sportsmanship and character in the hearts of all who profess Christ. The operable and driving units within this ministry are Crafts, Drama, Retreats and Socials. In brief, this ministry assist or arrange activities for various Church ministries and their organizations.

As a means of recreation this ministry gives members a chance to relax as well as create artistic expressions. It offers as a part of its program, needlepoint, cross stitching, ceramics, painting, etc., to mention a few. It is open to all church members regardless of age.

This area confines itself to the creative sphere of the church. Those who have talent along the lines of playing acting, interpretation of literary pieces, or the writing of plays are urged to participate in this unit.

The Retreat Ministry serves in the capacity of planning and implementing fellowship and training activities for all ministries and organizations. Its function is to assist or handle in great detail mini or church wide retreats within the Union Hill family.

The Socials Ministry is an added incentive to church fellowship in that these activities permit members of the body an opportunity to familiarize themselves with one another in a Christian setting. Generally these gatherings range from banquets to special outings both formal and informal.

This area allows Christians to actively participate with sister churches and other Christian oriented groups. The sporting festivities of this division of recreation are: basketball, softball, volleyball, table tennis, children's games to mention a few.
